how can I improve my traffic to my web page and increase my search engine position?

October 30, 2009 - 11:50 am 12 Comments

my webpage is is www.dremodeling.com

Your site looks great, but you don’t have a high enough density of keyword utilization.

Google has de-emphasized the value of meta keyword data, but still has a high importance placed on keyword usage with-in your page text.

Search engines want to see heading tags. You don’t have any H1’s or H2’s. You have only your company name in bold print, you ought to utilize more keywords in bold (no more than 5% of the page text bold.

Your current page rank is one and you have 22 reported inbound links. You should look at free sites, like http://www.wikidweb.com as places to post more links to your site. Also, spend some time commenting on blogsites related to your industry and include links back to your site. You should target about 400 quality inbond links. One note, do not buy links. Google doesn’t like webmasters who buy links.

You should also look at your copy flow. Refer too soem of Jakob Nielsen’s research on eyetracking heat charts. You’ll see there is a distinct F-Shape pattern to how visitors scan your web text. You can find links to Jakob’s articles on my wiki linked below.

Hope this help. Good luck

What is the best way to track internet-site traffic? I have been using Alexa.com but it seems to be inaccurate

October 30, 2009 - 11:50 am 1 Comment

I am an investor with a focus on internet and tech companies and one of my research strategies for internet companies is to follow web site traffic to see if a company is growing or not. I have found that alexa.com seems to be not only inconsistent with the information analysts use but also with companies’ own internal metrics given at the end of each quarter. Is there a better free tool that moniters web traffic, and if not, what are the for-pay ones?

Unfortunately Alexa is as close as you can get. The main problem with the Alexa results is that their data comes only from those who have the Alexa toolbar installed and their reach is not representative of the total internet community. The ‘rankings’ that are sometimes reported in the media come from either self reported numbers (usually) or studies of users surfing (rarely, and again without enough reach). Short of seeing the companies logs you really don’t know how much traffic they are getting. You can get search engine page rank (Webposition 4.0) but this is not directly representative of traffic.

Want to increase web traffic of my sites?

hello buddies and webmasters,

Everyday i’m adding doing link exchange and getting more backlinks for my sites, but google doesnt count my any backlinks yet, is there any easiest way to increase heavy web traffic pls tell me, even i’m doing web directories submission also, but i’m looking for easiest way to increase web traffic
my sites ::
http://www.xhtmlcssexpert.com/
http://www.infodreamz.com/

waiting for your suggestions, its urgent

The best traffic is organic traffic. You really need to optimize your site. Yes you do have keywords on your home page but the first keywords I looked at are not even listed on the home page. Lets look at infodreamz:

professional web design company (keyword) – this needs to appear at least 3 times on the page – I do not see it even listed once

(you are confusing the search engines) :)

Go through every page and optimize your website for the actual keywords.

This keyword has about 1600 searches a month. You are competeing with firms that have thousands of more pages than you.

Optimize all of your keywords and build that content. You need a larger website to compete.

Good luck! You can do it!

Where can I find the number of unique visitors for websites?

October 30, 2009 - 11:50 am 1 Comment

i want to know web traffic info for cable networks (ie. TNT, ESPN, Cartoon Network, etc.)

These websites do not publish their traffic numbers unless it is for publicity (even then I checked and found nothing)

The most you can get on the Web for free are the data from sites such as Alexa.com http://www.alexa.com and Ranking.com http://www.ranking.com — which can only give you some idea of their traffic, but not the actual data

If you want more accurate data, I suggest you contact Nielsen Netratings. Their data, however, is expensive (think of thousands)

I want to learn web design!!! HELP!!!?

October 30, 2009 - 11:50 am 4 Comments

So I’ve asked a couple questions regarding web design/development! I’m 16 years old and want to know about what I should learn now that will help me in the future! So far what I’ve decided to learn is…
HTML, XHTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, FLASH, AJAX, PHP! And also use dreamweaver and photoshop! And I will learn more about web design and blogging and making databases and traffic statistics! But I really don’t know what each of those do! That is what I want to know! What do each of these things do, and what do they create? What I’ve done so far is just create websites in photoshop and import them into dreamweaver! Also, is there anything else that I should learn? What about making IPhone applications? I know these are a lot of questions, but if you provide a good answer to all of them, I will choose as best answer! Please help me here!

Why do my two analytics tools, incl. goog, report much lower referral rates than a newspaper where I advertise

October 30, 2009 - 11:50 am 2 Comments

I am helping a client track their web traffic, especially their online marketing efforts. To track, we are using our own internal tracking system (still in development) plus google analytics and an independent analytics service. The trends being registered on google analytics and the other analytics service are the same, although the numbers are, not surprisingly, slightly different. However, a vendor of the client, a newspaper, is claiming they have sent roughly 4,000 more hits than any of our sources indicate. My goal is to be both impartial and accurate, and naturally the newspaper wants to keep the account and is making the case that our numbers are way off, but the pressure is on to clearly explain why there could be such a discrepancy.

I am wondering why the newspapers numbers might be so high, what the differences in reporting might be, and how to explain all this to the client. I am also looking for good online resources about issues related to tracking online traffic.

I would think your server referral logs would be a simple way to gut-check the newspaper.

Also, remember there’s always a time lag between the user clicking the ad at the newspaper site, then all the background cookie-placing and link-forwarding happens before your site shows up on their screen, and from personal experience I can tell you there’s a VERY high droput rate there.

Example: I’m reading the news site, click the ad, new window opens but either hangs, or takes more than 10 sec’s to load… I’m gone. I kill the window and go about my life. But… the newspaper thinks they sent a click to the advertiser.

Check your contract language for how the clicks are measured, and if it’s a good media source anyway, consider what you can do to speed up the click -to-load times.

Check marketingsherpa.com they may have some back articles on this. Also I recommend wilsonweb.com

Good luck
