I have my website and I plan to move toward premium services in a few weeks. In the mean time I am looking for an ad client that will place ad’s on my webpage while working as an Search Engine Optimization client to direct traffic through my website to promote their advertisements. This seems like an even trade for space and the traffic I need to promote my company. Do you know of any?

I would suggest you to have a look at shoogloo affiliate marketing.

I had a friend that does web design tell me to use this formula:

www.website.com/?=whatever%20tag&20you%20want

And that all hits coming to "website.com" would register in the "traffic sources" section in Google Analytics as "whatever tag you want" a teh source.

Is this the correct formula to use when tracking hits coming from a specific link? I already know about Google’s tool to generate tags but I don’t need it to track all the different variables that Google’s tool uses.

As the title says: how do I go about increasing web site traffic to my blog? I’ve got a blog that I’ve been working on for ages and I can’t seem to get any free traffic to it

I’ve heard about paying for advertising on google, but I can’t afford that… what can I do?

You have to write useful content.
You have to use social networking sites like Yahoo buzz, Digg, Facebook, twitter.
You have to find similar blog to yours and participate in comments over there.

Don’t just think for success very early, it takes time. First put your attention in writing content then think of earning.

Me and a friend are running a tech site (exatech.org) and we want to get press passes to gencon, however they require you get atleast 500 unique visits a month, and we’re only getting around 100. What can we do to get more web traffic?

There are number of techniques to make popular your website, by means SEO(search engine optimization) SMO(social media optimization) link wheel blog creation, forums, email posting, classifieds, PPC(pay per click) and link exchange..

Where can I find a web statistics tool that will tell me a site’s traffic/weekday and traffic/hour of the day?

I can’t get that form www.alexa.com or from www.compete.com, so I’m looking for other tools.

It is not for my own website. I want the stats for someone else’s website.

I think the best free stat tool to do this is Histats.com. They provide a really in-depth analysis of your site’s traffic and have many awesome counters as well. I’d give them a shot.

Certainly, but it won’t happen overnight. I make over $600 per month, which is approx. $20 per day on my resume site. My site is 2 years old and I get 1,100 to 1,200 visitors per day. I have over 150 pages on the site and I have never used PPC to generate traffic. Most of my traffic comes through organic search – some of it comes through image searches.

I pay less than $1 per day for the hosting and I also have access to over 70 modules that help me create forms, add text links, add video, track my visitor traffic, determine which pages get viewed the most, and on and on.

On top of all of this, I do not have to use html. I type what I want into "boxes" and the software turns my words into a web page. Seriously. I tried to learn css and I just can’t grasp it. So, I stay with the "block-building" method. Other people use Dreamweaver and stuff like that because the software is so flexible, but I just am not at that point yet.

I have provided a link below to my web site. You can look around at my site and see what you think. The page the link takes you to can also take you to the site where you can sign up for your own site.

If you can master the art of writing content, then you will be fine. Create as many articles on the related topic as you can.. and submit them to article directories, and link the articles to your site!

Where do you create these mini-sites?… At Web 2.0 properties such as Squidoo.com, Blogger.com, ect..

And, don’t forget to ping them and submit the RSS feeds to aggregators.

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – Former American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino has been hospitalized in the Charlotte-area after police sources confirm that she attempted to commit suicide.

According to a report filed with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, officers responded on Monday at 8:43 p.m. to a suicide attempt call at a home on Bevington Place.

Police sources and sources close to the investigation say Barrino was found in the closet of the Glynmoor Lakes neighborhood home and she was taken to Mercy South Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville.

"Last night, Fantasia was hospitalized. She took an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid," manager Brian Dickens said in a statement to WBTV.

"Her injuries are not life threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time. Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon."

During an email conversation with WBTV late Tuesday night, Dickens confirmed that Barrino was still in the hospital as of 10:11 p.m.

According to the police report, Barrino was hospitalized with "possible internal injuries" after "ingesting medication." The police report was classified as "suicide/overdose."

It isn’t clear if the overdose was intentional or accidental.

"I saw a fire truck, the lights were flashing and an ambulance was there," neighbor Richard Gee told WBTV’s Sarah Batista. "It definitely surprises me a lot, I see the show and everything and I never thought that would really happen in this neighborhood."

Sources tell WBTV that a production crew for Barrino’s VH1 reality show "Fantasia For Real" was at Barrino’s home on the day she overdosed.

A neighbor told WBTV’s Sarah Batista that a camera crew was outside the home on Monday and ‘everything seemed fine.’

Dickens is the one who notified CMPD that something was wrong with her, the police report stated.

"Fantasia is a fighter and a survivor. This is not the hardest thing Fantasia has endured," said Dickens. "Fantasia will be stronger, smarter, and better for it."

According to the police report, the incident is still under investigation.

Fantasia’s overdose comes after a woman named Paula Cook filed a lawsuit in Mecklenburg County court last week against her husband Antwaun Cook.

According to court documents, Paula Cook claims Fantasia began having an affair with her husband last year and claims the pair even made a sex tape together.

Dickens says the former Idol singer is not to blame for the couple’s divorce.

"Fantasia is certain that she is not responsible for the deterioration of Cook’s marriage," said Dickens.

"Fantasia believed Mr. Cook when he told her he was not happy in his marriage and his heart was not in it. She believed him when he told her he and Mrs. Cook separated in the late summer of 2009. She believed Mr. Cook when he told her he lived elsewhere. He even took her there. One of Mr. Cook’s most redeeming qualities was his complete devotion to his children. Fantasia fell in love with Mr. Cook and believed that he loved her."

Dickens says Fantasia was heartbroken when she read the accusations against her in the court papers.

"Fantasia read Mrs. Cook’s Complaint against Mr. Cook for the first time yesterday. She knows some of the allegations in Mrs. Cook’s complaint are totally false. There are others she strongly doubts. There is plenty she does not know. Fantasia is heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused. "

WASHINGTON – Google Inc. is road-testing cars that steer, stop and start without a human driver, the company says.

The goal is to "help prevent traffic accidents, free up people’s time and reduce carbon emissions" through ride sharing and "the new ‘highway trains of tomorrow,’" project leader Sebastian Thrun wrote Saturday on Google’s corporate blog.

The cars are never unmanned, Thrun wrote. He said a backup driver is always behind the wheel to monitor the software.

It’s not the first signal that Google wants to change how people get from place to place. In a speech Sept. 29 at the TechCrunch "Disrupt" conference, Google CEO Eric Schmidt said "your car should drive itself. It just makes sense."

"It’s a bug that cars were invented before computers," Schmidt said.

The cars have travelled a total of 140,000 miles on major California roads without much human intervention, according to Google’s corporate blog.

The Mountain View, Calif.-based technology giant has sent seven test cars a total of 1,000 miles without a human touching the controls at all, the New York Times reported. The newspaper published a report on the cars earlier Sunday.

The cars know speed limits, traffic patterns and road maps, Thrun’s posting says. They use video cameras, radar sensors and lasers to detect other cars.

Driving between Northern California and Southern California, the cars have navigated San Francisco’s curvy Lombard Street, Los Angeles’ Hollywood Boulevard and the cliff-hugging Pacific Coast Highway, the blog says.

Engineers consider the cars safer because they react more quickly than humans, the New York Times said. It said Google has not revealed how it hopes to profit from the research.

The company is flush with cash, though, and pushing numerous projects such as the cars that are unrelated to its core business, said Rob Enderle, principal analyst with the Enderle Group in San Jose, Calif.

"The word ‘focus’ is a word Google has never learned," Enderle said, pointing to projects involving electricity distribution, vehicle design and artificial intelligence. He said cars that can drive themselves would allow commuters more time to surf the web, something Google would encourage.

Still, Enderle said, industry leaders such as Volkswagen and Intel Corp. are working on similar technology. He said "driverless" vehicles will make computers more like the robots imagined in the 1920s, rather than the tabletop data processors we use today.

The blog says the technology is being developed by scientists who were involved in an earlier set of unmanned car races organized by the government’s Defence Advance Research Projects Agency.
