How to improve my website traffic?
I have a website thats a little over a month old. At first the traffic was steadily increasing. Now I’m hardly getting any hits at all. I’ve tried submitting articles, sighned up to directories and search engines, put videos on youtube and have participated in places such as blogcatalog. Those that have seen my site and blog really liked it yet still I’m hardly getting any traffic? What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it ?
Wow! You’ve been busy!
You are definitely on the right track. Submitting articles, signing up for key directories and search engines, posting videos on YouTube and participating in blogging and social media are all great activities for increasing your traffic.
First of all, it’s important to understand that these strategies take some time. What you’re doing is building inbound links, which work because, when search engines find all these links to your site, they figure you must be important and rank you higher than other sites. When you think of it that way, it’s obvious that there’s going to be lag time between your link-building activities and the accompanying increase in traffic.
You should keep all this up and trust the process. Meanwhile, take a look at your content and make sure people won’t be disappointed by what they find. No amount of link building will save a site that is scattered, disorganized or hard to use.
Last, but not least, keep an eye on your web traffic. Oftentimes, you can mine your site stats to figure out what’s working and what isn’t. That should help you refine your strategy going forward.
Keep up the good work, and good luck!

Submitting articles and doing blogs is not enough to increase the traffic of your site, you need the help of link building, such as directory submissions, blog commenting, or social bookmarking for effective seo campaign.

The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is
to first set up a website and publish its domain name
on major search directories such as Google.com,
Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and
MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these
search directories to provide them with goods and
services. In a sense, these search directories are a
very large Internet Yellow Pages.
Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage
fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using
such "generic" queries will not be able to discover
your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,
in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.
You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,
when observed and committed in designing of a website
with placement of various critical SEO metatags that can
surely achieve a high search engine presence and
increase Internet traffic to your website. These
metatag strategies work well with published webpages
at Google and Yahoo.
Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based
website, make sure to fill-in the property entries
such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing
to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can
be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the
Internet audience and their incoming setup. For
example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages
take too long to load up and therefore analog users
will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the
Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL
lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So
before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple
question, "Who’s my end user – is he on dialup or
DSL?" And if you had to choose between these two users
for maximum marketability, then select analog users
since 80% of most resident users are still analog
Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages
is best for them.
A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,
is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit
the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a
graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.
Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots
are unable to properly classify textual material.
Placement of SEO Metatags:
A ranking or search order does take place with Google
and Yahoo and it begins with the "Title" metag which
should consist of no more than 65 characters separated
by commas. The "Title" should describe in generic
terms, the goods and services, followed by a location
from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.
The placement of a domain name which is not generic
within the "Title" is not appropriate, unless your
domain name is a major recognizable brand name.
The second metatag is the "Description" which is
usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which
best describes one’s goods and services.
And the very last category – "Keywords" are also
somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural
and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries
which could be mistaken as "spamdexed entries" which
is defined as the loading, and submission of
repetitive words into a particular metatag category.
"Spamdexing" when discovered on a webpage and reported
to Google’s spamreport.com can result in the
elimination of your website from their search
directory.
Good luck!

1) Content. The internet and it’s users strive on information-pages and pages..and pages of it! You need to PREsell your visitors. You do this through fresh content. Your visitors want to see the information that you are giving them is current and coming from you.
2)Link-building. The more sites that are linking into you, the better. Link swaps are good as well, but to SE they aren’t nearly as valuable as one-way inbound links. A word of caution, don’t pay for any link farm services. While on the outside they may seem very reputable with their "promises" and "testimonials" but rest assured you are almost guaranteed to get nothing of value. What you do get will probably be non-relevant.
3) Internal/External Navigation. The SE also check to see how easy it is to navigate throughout your site. The better and easier your visitors are able to move around, the better…that simple.
4) Trust. Your blog is downloading movies, so instead of just a link, why don’t you add a brief description of the movie in question, and your take on the movie itself. A big part of getting followers is or return customers is gaining their trust. You can do this by giving your "two cents" on what you thought of the movie. You need to put a voice and personality to your blog to encourage the participation of your visitors.
5) I don’t how well versed you are in SEO, but contrary to popular belief, there is no trick or black hat methods to make the search engines more likely to list you higher. Yes there are things that need to be done in order to get indexed and getting listed high, but that information is available anywhere. Keyword placement (no keyword saturation), well designed layout, good internal and external linking. But, their algorithms are designed for one thing: GIVE THE PERSON SEARCHING WHAT THEY WANT. If you implement common tested and proven methods, make sure you give the user tons of fresh content, the visitor AND the search engine spiders will see this and it will eventually result in more traffic.
Your PR can be bettered by many things. Some of these are:
a) Article Marketing
b) Forum Participation
c)YouTube Videos
d) PPC(Pay-Per-Click)
a) There are many different article submission sites out there. Ezinearticles.com is probably the most popular right now. If you are a good netwriter, you should give that try. Maybe you could post a review or an informative article about a service or something you may have for sale.
b) Forums are a popular way to get your site recognized. After a certain period of time with a particular forum, i.e. one week or 10 posts, you can sometimes add a signature with your website’s URL in it. Big-boards.com is a good place to go to find a forum related to your topic.
c) YouTube videos can earn you subscribers that value your information and will, in turn, visit your site to get more of it. By introducing yourself through video, your visitor has an actual face to look at instead of just an email address. Just like that you have already PREsold your visitors and trust has already been established.
d) If you don’t mind spending some money, you might want to try a PPC program like Google Adwords. Having never used it myself, I can only tell you what I have heard; things such as how it can get very expensive if your not careful, and you really need to do your homework in order to make a successful PPC campaign.
I hope these suggestions will help you in the future.

Your blog is just a month old, so traffic is not a question right now. Good thing is you tried new things, and that’s commendable. Keep learning new things and keep applying.
Now, bringing traffic to one’s blog is a collection of do ables rather than one single thing. Some of them you may already be doing, keep learning and acting.
As you want real visitors to show on your blog, and your objective at present should be to advertise or spread the word about your blog, that’s why I think you should try TEs. One good thing about TEs is that they provide real visitors to a blog and also one gets pages views rather than some stray link. Going by your needs and time availability, you can opt for Free or paid account. For most website owners/bloggers free option is quite adequate. For more info on TEs, check the source url.
